2026 Wayne Winter Hiking Challenge
January 19th - March 16th
This annual challenge is a way to promote health, movement, and enjoying the outdoors in our community during a time of year that can be challenging for many. Hikers visit 6 of 8 parks in the area to complete the challenge. We had over 100 hikers this past year, thank you for hiking along with us!

Seed Saving Class with Mary Gnizak

Participants learned how to plan ahead, grow smarter, and save seeds for their gardens and farms. They then had a chance for discussion and questions to hear Mary's expertise from growing on difficult land.

2025 Holiday Bazaar

This year's Bazaar included an expanded Meet the Makers vendor footprint, taking place both in our current market and the Ride On building across the street. Activities included specialty breakfast and lunch, a visit from Santa Claus, live music, and more...

Annual Co-Op Meeting

We began our meeting across the street at the Ride On building, then enjoyed snacks and time together at Local Roots after. Open to co-op members, participants spent some time hearing about the year in review, and discussed the year ahead.

Battle of the Chefs:
Chili Smackdown

@ JAFB Wooster Brewery
We met together at JAFB for Local Roots' first ever Chili Smackdown! Collaborating with JAFB, the event was in support of the Boys & Girls Club of Wooster and our local chefs. We had nearly 100 in attendance and raised $1,678 for the Boys & Girls Club.

Electric Car Show
Sat. April 26th 2025
11am-2pm
We celebrated Earth Day alongside Drive Electric Earth Month with a variety of electric vehicles in the south parking lot, along Walnut St., and on South St. We had specialty booths, activities for kids and more!
We saw 65 vehicles on display, more than ever before for our seventh annual electric car show!

Killbuck Watershed Land Trust Info Meeting

We learned about the Killbuck Watershed Land Trust's farmland preservation program and how they work to protect natural lands in our area.

Women's Healthy & Hormone Balance Workshop

Facilitators Lori Bryant and Kristen Smith offered encouragement and practical knowledge on women's health and hormone balance participants could take home and apply to their regular routines. There were hands on experiences as well as a few items to take home.

Clothing Swap

We enjoyed this fun event in benefit of the Local Roots & FoodSphere Campaign for a New Building to Call Home. Participants brought in used clothes they no longer need see new life with others and found some quality, used items to help refresh their wardrobe.

Field to Fork Fundraiser Dinner

Local Roots and FoodSphere hosted a dinner as part of the. Campaign for a New Building to Call Home. The event provided local food, wine & homemade ginger-ale freshly prepared by a variety of local chefs overlooking breathtaking views at Summerhill Farm.

Acid & Honey Oxymel Workshop

We captured the seasons with oxymels (vinegar, honey, herbs and fruit).
We learned about the history, how to make them and how to use them in your everyday lives during this 1.5 hour workshop.

Beginning Herbs with Susan Sivey

This was a workshop where we delved into the fascinating world of herbs as we learned to cultivate and utilize eight common culinary herbs, along with a selection of lesser-known varieties, to enhance culinary dishes and promote well-being.

Tamale Workshop

This was a hands-on class with Joy Irias in our commercial kitchen exploring the history and variety of tamales. We learned the step-by-step cooking process for traditional Honduran banana leaf tamales.

Capital Campaign Launch Party
